Step 1:
Take the white crayon and draw different shapes on the hat’s silhouette.
Step 2:
Take paint with the paintbrush.
Step 3:
Paint the entire hat to see the crayon shapes reveal themselves.

HOW DO WE DO THIS PRESCHOOL ART ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF DIFFERENT AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD
This preschool art activity can be done with younger children. For this activity, the materials can be changed to accommodate the child’s skill level. Adult supervision is necessary because it is difficult for children to make precise lines at this age. In this case, we could use larger paper figures and prepare them ahead of time instead of the child. Later, he/she can paint with a paintbrush or with his/her hands all over the paper, even using different paint colors.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6
This preschool art activity can be done with older children. In this case, the children could make a larger picture or landscape or several drawings on which they could use different paints colors. They could also create a winter hat or other 3D objects of interest out of construction paper to decorate it using the art technique presented.
