The no-bake turkey activity is a fun and simple sense of taste activity for preschoolers that they can do this Thanksgiving.
Throughout history, human beings have sought a way to enrich food flavors but keeping their nutritional qualities. Nowadays, there are many new ways to prepare food, and people experiment with flavors, mixtures our elders never imagine we will do.
As parents, we always want to include flavors and nutritional foods in our children’s diets. But this is not still an easy task because each person has a proper taste, and everyone well receives not everything.
Did you know that the sense of taste is linked to emotions and feelings? This is because of our tonsils, which allow us to perceive tastes, and the hypothalamus, that part of the brain where the feeling hormone is located, is directly attached. So, we choose food according to our mood. It will be great that we enjoy taking our food together as a family and feeding our feelings and not just feeding our bodies. Transform the table into a place where children can enjoy food and know new flavors – a place where they can develop their senses and strengthen bonding.
Knowing this, I am sure we will present our children with new food in a fun and enjoyable way and, maybe, ask them to help us when cooking.

HOW TO CARRY OUT THIS SENSE OF TASTE ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OLD
We can carry out this sense of taste activity with younger children. Given children’s abilities at this age, it’s recommended not to use toothpicks. An adult should cut the apple previously, and children must put food together according to adult indications. To do this sensorial activity, we can also use strawberries or pineapple dices to replace gummies. This way, this exercise will be more eye-catching for children.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 4
We can also do this sense of taste activity with older children. It is not necessary to change materials. If children can cut the fruit without any danger and using tools according to their age, they can use some other fruits and decorate a plate; this way, you increase the difficulty level, and children will get motivated.
