The experiences and stimuli that the brain receives will determine people’s behavior, development, learning, and health. For the brain’s development, we perceive the stimuli through the senses (touch, hearing, sight, smell, and taste).
The brain has plasticity; however, stimulation must be at an early age to achieve the proper neuronal connections. This process is very difficult in adulthood.
Scientists say that neural connections are developed from birth to 6 years old. Of course, this development is directly related to the stimulation that children receive from their environment; however, from 14 years old, these connections decrease; and it will be more difficult to get those skills that were not achieved before.
Neural stimulation will enhance boys’ and girls’ development in their language, motor skills, memory, behavior, and reasoning areas, among others. Mostly, when we carry out Thanksgiving activities to stimulate the children’s development, we use exercises that enhance the stimulation of only one side of the brain.
It is important to highlight that each hemisphere fulfills a different function. The right hemisphere is in charge of everything related to sensitivity, art, and creativity. The left hemisphere is responsible for logical processes. That’s why we must find a way to carry out kids activities that enhance the two brain’s sides’ proper development.
The following kids activity is focused on performing a coordination exercise in which the hands will move simultaneously, and in this way, we will stimulate both sides of the brain at the same time
