Help enhance children’s fine motor skills by helping the scarecrow in this sorting objects kindergarten activity.
Have you ever wonder how boys and girls see the world around them? If they start speaking, knowing what a word means? When they use a tool, they really know what it is for or do it just because they are imitating?
At their early ages, children start sorting things from what they can see and feel, shapes, sizes, colors, etc. That is specific and real. While children grow up, they begin to classify things using different features as a foundation like what a tool does, so you can say that at that moment, children understand abstract concepts.
When children put objects in order, they are using maths and enhancing their logical thinking. This process is necessary for children’s cognitive development.
This sorting and seriation process allows us to integrate numbers and quantity concepts further. That is why we are going to do an activity based on Montessori’s learning method that involves practical life exercises. This thanksgiving activity will also help children to enhance hand and fingers movements.
