Teach kids about their five senses by doing a fun activity. This musical pumpkin activity is an interesting and exciting sense of hearing sensory play for preschoolers.
A good hearing is the first stimulus for kids to communicate with others verbally, otherwise, it is complicated for a child to speak since it is through the ear that the brain perceives and encodes the sounds.
In few words, you cannot pronounce a word when you have not felt it first. This sense of hearing sensory activity for kids will teach them how it works.
Children who have been auditory stimulated can easily recognize the sounds they hear and relate them to their environment. That way, they begin to develop their ability to communicate with the world around them and achieve more solids representations in their minds about the world they interact with.
Therefore, it is especially important to be aware of our children’s language development. If the baby has not yet developed normal abilities for his age, this can be caused by different things. However, you must be sure that a sense of hearing problem does not cause this delay.

THEME: SENSE OF HEARING SENSORY PLAY AND CRAFT
HOW DO WE DEVELOP THIS ACTIVITY?
Age: 2 to 4 years old
Activity goal: With this sensory activity children will stimulate their sense of hearing
Difficulty level: Intermediate. This sense of hearing activity is designed for children to carry out autonomously, through exploration and following instructions.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO CARRY OUT THIS SENSE OF HEARING ACTIVITY
- A tuve of toilet paper
- Pumpkin seeds
- Green and Orange paint
- Glue
- A recycled cardboard strip
- Scissors
- Black sharpie
DEVELOPMENT OF THE ACTIVITY
Step 1: Let’s start this sense of hearing craft. On the recycled cardboard piece, draw two circles, with a toilet paper tube’s help. These circles will be used to cover the tube (paint them green)
Step 2: paint the toilet paper tube with orange paint, this will be our musical pumpkin.
Step 3: Let’s cut the green circles that you made in the cardboard, and glue them to each end of our toilet paper tube
Step 4: With the marker, we make the eyes and mouth of the pumpkin. Then, you can make a hole at the top of your pumpkin.
Step 5: On a comfortable surface for children, put the pumpkin seeds and the jar or bowl in which they are going to introduce the seeds.
Step 6: The children must take the seeds from the surface and place them in the chosen jar or container. The child must always be with an adult during the activity. To finish, shake the pumpkin to produce musical sounds.

MODIFICATIONS TO THIS SENSE OF HEARING SENSORY PLAY ACTIVITY
This sense of hearing activity of “THE MUSICAL PUMPKIN” can also be done with younger children using objects that generate sound and are big enough so that way children do not have any risk if they put them into their mouths.
