Nature Activity for Kids

As we teach our boys and girls hygiene and personal care habits, we must also promote respect for nature. These learned habits go hand in hand with the development and strengthening of their self-esteem and autonomy,

Children must recognize that the environment provides us with the necessary resources for our subsistence. If we destroy it, we directly affect ourselves since we are running out of natural resources and affecting our health because of pollution.

But this knowledge has to be practical. You must involve your children in different activities that directly contact the environment, such as taking them to natural parks and ecological walks.At home or school, we can delegate to the children they care about a plant from the patio.

In addition to this, we are not only developing an ecological awareness in children, but we are also making them an active human being in the community. This will help them create citizen awareness, and little by little, they will strengthen their values.

To develop this activity, you have to look for dry leaves. Our actions must be consistent with our teachings. We are teaching our children the love for the environment.

Therefore, the materials needed for this kids’ activity should not be gathered from living plants. In this case, the leaves and withered blooms of a flower arrangement that were already cut are used.

Remember, the topic of hygiene is very important for the development of this activity.

We must remind our children to wash their hands after collecting and handling plants and leaves. They could have possibly been exposed to the environment and have animal excrement, viruses, or bacteria on them.

Age: 4 to 6 years

Objective of the activity: Through this fine motor skills development activity, kids will learn about caring for the environment. They will identify the importance of handwashing after having contact with nature (collecting leaves).

DEVELOPMENT OF THE FINE MOTOR SKILLS ACTIVITY

Step 1:

On the heavy brown paper, draw the trunk of the tree.

Step 2:

In the upper part of the brown card stock, we are going to spread the glue to paste the dry leaves that we collect and, in this way, give life to our tree.

MODIFICATIONS FOR THIS FINE MOTOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY

This fine motor skills development activity can be developed with younger children. If the children have not yet developed the skill to glue the dry leaves, they can fill the tree with paint by making little marks with their fingerprints.
