Get children ready to welcome the new season with fun spring crafts for kids. Flowers in a pot is a cool Montessori craft activity that they can do at home.
Nature, flowers, and gardens represent beauty, serenity, life, joy, freedom, and many pleasant feelings. In the gardens, you can perceive different colors, shapes, and smells. One of the children’s favorite gifts for people they love is flowers; it is common to see children picking flowers that they find on their way.
Flowers play a significant role in nature; they come in many shapes and colors. Their striking colors attract birds, bees, and insects, favoring pollination processes, which means that the function of flowers in nature is reproduction; this ensures the species’ existence. Flowers also serve as food for many animals and as medicine for humans.
That’s why we must care for the plants. One way to contribute to caring for the environment is through the development of crafts with recyclable materials. This activity will allow reusing materials to help the environment and is integral to children’s development.
Keep in mind that the hand is one of the best tools to develop intelligence, as María Montessori proposed.
Children learn in a concrete way and through manipulation. With crafts, they are developing the ability to materialize an idea, strengthen memory, concentration, precision in the hands and fingers’ movements, stimulate both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously, and finally, helps children organize their thoughts.
Feel free to allow children to explore and spend some of their time crafting. Each action they carry out with their hands implies knowledge; therefore, be sure to provide them with the appropriate materials to independently develop their activities.
