The first feelings that babies will experience are with the mother. This relationship between mother and children will determine how children relate to others.

The role of women throughout history has changed a lot. Women are no longer dedicated solely to raising children and housework; they now work outside the home. The maintenance of the house falls on the man and the woman in the same way; however, this does not mean that they stop being good mothers and that their role as mothers has lost importance. On the contrary, the mother and father will always be important at home.

Sometimes, things can get out of control as an untidy home or fights between children, in addition to the workload of every day. But this cannot be an impediment to show children the huge love you feel. An education with love is fuel for the strengthening of self-esteem. There are two critical things that children learn from their mothers: trust and emotional security.

Values are learned from their mother, so you, as a mother, must emphasize honesty. The best way is to show them honest behavior. Being a mother is not just for the first years of children’s lives; it is a role that will last forever; that’s why you should love your children as they are. Sometimes, we will disagree about several things, but you should respect those differences and try to understand them.

The way a mother faces daily challenges will influence the way children to solve their conflicts. Also, the way things are made, and the sacrifices people make to reach their goals.

Topic: Handcraft – the role of a mom

Goal: With this Mother’s Day crafts for kindergarten activity, children will develop their skills in hand movements by making crafts.

MATERIALS

Colored pipe-cleaners
Bond paper/construction paper in red, green, blue, and orange
A black marker
Glue
A tray
Scissors

ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT

(Adult supervision)

Step 1:

Take the orange paper and draw a pot on it.

Step 2:

Cut out the pot and glue it on the blue paper.

Step 3:

Paste the pipe-cleaners vertically over the pot as the flower stems.

Step 4:

Draw the leaves of the roses on the green paper. Cut them out and paste them along the sides of the pipe-cleaners (stems).

Step 5:

Draw the rose’s buds on the red paper. For two roses, you should cut out four buds.

Step 6:

Fold two buds in accordion shape and glue them over the other two buds. Once done, glue the buds onto the paper at the end of the stems.

HOW TO DEVELOP THIS MOTHER’S DAY CRAFT ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD

You can do this Mother’s Day craft activity with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level, you won’t need to change the materials. However, children must have the pieces previously made. Then they will be able to place them to form the figures strengthening their memory and hand and finger movements. In this way, children will carry out a Mother’s day activity appropriate to their development and abilities.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OVER 6 YEARS OLD

You can carry out this Mother’s Day craft activity with older children. To increase the difficulty level, children can make a Mother’s Day card over the pot and write a message using yarn to create the letters so children can strengthen their literacy and hand and finger movements. In this way, children can carry out an exercise appropriate to their development and skills.
