Help strengthen a child’s fine motor skills by doing fun handcraft for kids. The pear with pencil shavings activity is a Montessori-based home activity that will introduce healthy food to children.
As parents, we must remember that our child’s welfare and education are our responsibility from their birth. They deserve the best from us, including the preparation for later life.
As we provide children’s learning tools, this is of relevant importance because when they begin to form their personality foundations, this contributes to their integral development.
From a very young age, we must start teaching children fine motor skills. They need to have the opportunity of acquiring different abilities to bring them multiple benefits in the future.
Fine motor skills are defined as the relationship between the hands’ muscles and the fingers and the eyes.
So, among other things, it contributes to coordination. Activities focused on fine motor skills stimulate these muscles in children.
It gives them the mastery and precision of their hands’ movements, granting autonomy and security, which increases their independence.
As children grow, they mature and improve their visual-motor coordination through activities that we, as adults, can suggest by proposing fun moments with different games and activities.
These skills that they develop will be reflected in everyday tasks such as brushing, tying shoelaces, tearing paper, stacking different objects, writing, or coloring, among others.
That is to say, that they simultaneously develop themselves while doing these daily activities and carry out even more complex tasks by having fine control and more precise movements.

HOW DO WE DO THIS HANDCRAFT FOR KIDS ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD
This handcraft for kids activity can be done with younger children. It is unnecessary to change the materials for younger children to complete this activity.
It is necessary for children’s constant supervision by adults to develop their pincer grip and eye coordination before this age.
A variation could be for the child to pick up the shavings with their thumb and forefinger instead of using the tweezers. By allowing them to use their hands, it will be easier and less frustrating.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6
This handcraft for kids activity can be done with older children. At this age, they can make more food figures.
