Make children love math more by turning games into a fun learning experience. This polar bear-themed fun math game is a cool indoor activity for winter.
Math is a subject that most people, especially children, are not fond of. In most math learning processes, memorization is required. For children, this becomes tedious and boring.
Throughout childhood, children are continually learning. This learning should be based on experiences rather than memorizing everything since more than 80% of what they memorize is forgotten after 30 days.
Hands are the brain’s instruments. Therefore, children need the opportunity to experiment with their hands. In this way, it is possible to introduce mathematics to learn concrete and abstract concepts.
Math is abstract. Therefore, when children can touch things, put them in the picture, manipulate and play with them, they can learn in a more finite and digestible way.
When children learn and practice math, they develop many skills, one of which is reasoning ability. Clear reasoning teaches them to be aware of the error, deception, and manipulation of others. Developing the ability to reason is a way to streamline the mind and logically solve problems to express their thoughts and ideas with greater clarity, coherence, and precision, providing critical and logical thinking.
Another benefit of mathematics reflected in children is that it helps them learn analytical thinking. They accelerate their mind-generating practicality in all their daily activities. The ability to investigate is also shown when performing mathematical exercises. Thus, they have the possibility of knowing the truth of the world that surrounds them and how things work.

HOW DO WE DO THIS FUN MATH GAME ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF DIFFERENT AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD
This fun math game activity can be done with younger children by reducing the difficulty level. It is necessary to change the materials because children are associating concepts.
At this age, they could use cards with bear silhouettes. We could also have the bears’ images so that the child takes each one and arranges them on the cards according to the number of shapes corresponding to the dice. In this way, the child internalizes the numbers and quantity, thus performing a motor skill activity according to their development.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6
This fun math game activity can be done with older children. At this age, two dice could be used so that the child adds the dice’s quantities and can arrange the figures. You can even use mathematical signs such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication to raise the level and practice mathematics in a more fun way. In this way, a preschool activity will be carried out according to the children’s skills and development.
