One of the favorite activities of children is drawing. Children can spend a lot of time sitting drawing and much more if they have various colors and materials such as colored chalk, crayons, or markers. Drawing is a fundamental tool in children’s development and a significant source of information about children’s thoughts.
Through drawing, children express themselves and develop different useful skills for their cognitive, emotional, and physical development. They enhance and acquire skills in the reading-writing processes, hand, and finger coordinated movements, emotional development, creativity, and artistic sensitivity through drawing.
While children grow, the drawing is a process with different stages, one stage leading to another. Between two to four, children draw doodles, and those doodles do not make sense to us. However, children feel it is a work of art where they could express themselves and their feelings. With practice and the proper materials, children will improve their drawing.
Between four to seven, children strengthen their hand muscles and get the ability to draw much more elaborate and detailed drawings with much more defined strokes. After seven years old, children can be taught different techniques to make drawings.
They can already include contexts in their drawings. At this stage, it is much easier to show whether children have artistic sensitivity for drawing.
Although drawing may seem like a simple child’s game, it is actually an excellent tool for children’s development and learning processes. Therefore, we must create those spaces where children can carry out this activity. The more stimulation they have, the greater their development.

Christmas Coloring for Toddlers
You can develop this art for kindergarten activity with younger children. To reduce this activity’s difficulty level, you will need to change the materials to draw appropriately. Children’s abilities must be taken into account. When they begin with the drawing process, they do not have the strength or ability to take a pencil correctly and draw. That means children cannot properly handle a brush either; if you plan to paint with children, they can paint directly with their fingers and hands. If they are going to carry out the art activity with colored pencils, they should be thick to give them a better grip.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6
