Psychology of Children’s Drawings- Find out your Kids’ Personality for their Pictures

What color does your child choose to draw with?

Yellow

This particular color chooses dreamer, joker, and an individual who can perfectly entertain oneself.

Parents keep wondering why a child, who has loads of interesting toys aimed at its development, plays with rocks and sticks collected outside.

“Yellow” kids are creative and optimistic. They are supporters of “creative chaos.”

The main disadvantage is that they are not fans of making decisions, nor do they like giving real preference to something specific. However, even adults are familiar with this “drawback.”

Red

These children are little bundles of energy open to new experiences. However, with this much energy comes some disobedience.

“Red” children run around a lot. They are a tiny bit naughty and enjoy all kinds of adventures, especially when it comes to ignoring and breaking the rules.

Sometimes, they can take away toys from other kids and even break them. At the same time, they find praise and validation very important.

Parents’ main task is to direct a kid’s energy flow into something creative. By giving them tasks and small challenges, parents teach children to be calmer and more perseverant.

Orange

Orange sun, orange sky, orange mommy. Unfortunately, it is not a particularly good sign because it states that a child does not have much energy.

You have to come up with a way to avoid a nervous breakdown. Maybe you can encourage a little one to do some sports (football, martial arts, etc.) or spend time doing some activities as a family.

Blue

This particular color choose calm, a little sluggish but very amiable children.

They like taking their time and wait patiently for the answers to their “Why”s.

“Blue” children begin to read at a young age and do it with pleasure. Also, they don’t mind sharing toys with other kids.

If you notice that a child has lost its interest in other colors, you need to revise your educational methods. Sudden “floods” of blue color in your child’s drawings indicates that a little one needs more peace.

“Drops” of green, lilac, and purple signalize that there is stress caused by fear of disobedience and breaking ground rules that you’ve established.

Green

Even though most psychologists consider green to be a calm and “safe” color, children who lack the mother’s love and attention use it the most.

In most cases, “green” children are conservative and introverted. They are afraid of even minor changes, such as shifts in a timetable or interior change in their room.

Only mommy’s love and attention can drag this little marmot from its hiding place.

Brown

This dark color often occurs in the child’s drawings when a little one feels uncomfortable or sick. The fact that a child has overall weak health can also be a cause of such behavior.

Brown color means that a little one is looking for a safe space to hide from its internal and external “problems.”

Purple

A complex color created by mixing blue and red. Therefore, a kid’s disposition, who chooses this color, cannot be defined as simple.

“Purple” kids are exceptionally artistic, sensitive spirits. You can’t scold them because any manifestation of parent’s dissatisfaction hurts a child.

Black

Black is a very gloomy color. Therefore, its appearance in a child’s drawings, usually startles parents. However, there is no need to be afraid, especially if a little one is 4-5 years old.

At this age, a kid chooses black because it is the most contrasting color against white paper.

However, if your little artist of always-unicorn-pink pictures suddenly starts to collect black and white pictures, you should start to pay attention to this matter. Such drawings can suggest troubles with friends or kids in kindergarten. Therefore, try very delicately and unobtrusively to find out the worries and fears that a little one has.

Grey

Kids who prefer grey are usually secretive, extremely reserved, and introverted. Usually, grey is a color chosen by kids, who spend most of their time surrounded by adults. Parents either shield their baby from other people, or kid’s peers are unwilling to take a little one into their circle (in fact, there can be many reasons.)

Your task is to find out the reason for the child’s problems with other kids and assist (!) a little one in resolving this issue.

Also, grey color can appear if a little one is snowed under at school or other activities.
