When we speak about developing children’s gross motor skills, we mean moving the body and balance they need to function as a whole: muscles, agility, and speed. Adults need to follow up on how children evolve when growing.

Boys and girls need to develop their gross motor skills; if not, they will not be able to explore and travel the world that surrounds them. When a baby begins to sit, he/she sees the world differently – the same thing when crawling or walking. Every single experience is new learning.

Sometimes we insist on saying don’t run, don’t jump, don’t climb, etc. However, we don’t realize how much that can help them. When we allow children to do that, they strengthen their muscles and balance. That’s the first step to coordinate movements and develop their gross motor skills.

Developing gross motor skills is vital, as well as fine motor skills. Everything is connected. Move, explore, write, feel, among other things. That is why we are motivated to work on the next Halloween games for kids activity.

MATERIALS

A cardboard box or piece of cardboard (could be recycled)
A ball
A Stanley knife
Black marker

ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT

Step 1:

Draw a skeleton face in the cardboard, as you can see in the image.

Step 2:

Use the Stanley knife to open holes in its eyes and mouth. These holes should be big enough to introduce a ball through them.

Step 3:

Put the skeleton’s face, as shown in the image, to allow children to start playing.

This Halloween games for kids activity can be done with younger children. To decrease the difficulty level, we could open bigger holes to the skeleton face. Playing this game will stimulate their gross motor skills and, at the same time, strengthen their self-esteem and confidence.

You can also do this Halloween games for kids activity with older children. To increase the difficulty level and make this exercise more fun, you can cut smaller holes in the skeleton face. That way, they will need to be more accurate when playing with the ball.
