Human beings show our feelings, desires, and ideas through language. That allows us to interact with others. Through language, we get knowledge about the world around us.

Literacy, which is reading and writing concepts together, is the door to acquiring new and extensive knowledge. That is why children should be involved at an early age in the reading and writing world, which goes beyond learning symbols. It can understand, decode, interpret, build new knowledge, organize ideas, and develop creativity and critical thinking.

Children must have a relationship with reading. The more encouraged they are, the greater their ability to express themselves when writing and understanding texts they read. That means that the more they strengthen their reading and make it a habit, the more they develop their intelligence.

Boys and girls will easily get involved in literacy if they are not pushed to do it. We must remember that children learn by watching and imitating adults’ behavior, so they should get in the habit of reading and writing. We should look for topics that inspire them and funny things to avoid boring them.

Remember that reading and writing are not easy for everybody. Some learn quickly, others learn slowly. So, we must be patient and be careful with the words used to give instructions.

HOW TO CARRY OUT THIS PRESCHOOL WRITING ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD

This preschool writing activity can be carried out with younger children. If they cannot identify vowels, the vowel can be changed to images. For example, match the vowel E on the board with a picture of an elephant. The card must also have the image and the vowel E, the same as on the orange sheet. This way, children will make a relationship between images and vowels.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6

If children already know the alphabet, then you can write words instead of vowels. They should identify the letters of each word. That will help them to get a global reading understanding.
