Handcrafts are very important in children’s development to improve their creativity and imagination. It also serves to work the right side of the brain responsible for emotions, aesthetic sensitivity, spatial vision, and abstraction.
Creative thinking brings many benefits in developing skills such as autonomy, concentration, following instructions, and control of emotions.
By exercising creativity, physical benefits are developed, such as psychomotor skills, because children are in constant interaction with textures and different sizes, thus reaching the right level of precision and coordination.
By developing Montessori activities, we seek to motivate kids to explore, awaken their interest in learning, and autonomy in their learning process.
In doing these activities, they can develop fundamental cognitive skills such as attention, problem resolution, understanding, and memory.
A way to implement this method is through creative activities such as drawings, manual designs, work art (castles, houses, etc.).
These activities can be carried out using everyday objects. Simultaneously, they can perform assimilation and classification activities.
These aid in making children investigate, make mistakes, find solutions to understand what they were doing, and make them more responsible for what they learn.
We must motivate children during every process to make them appreciate what they get, develop their self-esteem, and respect others’ jobs.
