We all know that we should brush our teeth after each meal. If for some reason that is not possible, we should try to do it at least twice a day. This will help us to have fewer bacteria in our mouths and take care of our health.
However, children brushing their teeth, especially before going to bed, can become one of the most exhausting habits.
Did you know that cavities in babies and children with milk teeth can affect their permanent teeth’ health?
For this reason, it is very important that parents create an oral hygiene routine with their children from the moment the first tooth appears.
Remember, children learn through role-playing. With this activity, the kids will include tooth brushing more consciously in their daily routine.
Still, they will also achieve more structured thought processes in healthy environments that will strengthen their learning.
However, it is important to highlight that, although they feel completely autonomous and dynamic when brushing their teeth, this activity must be supervised by an adult.
THEME: MATH ACTIVITY AND DENTAL HYGIENE
HOW DO WE DEVELOP THE ACTIVITY?
Topic: Toothbrushing and dental care
Age: 4 to 6-year-old
Objective of the activity: With this math activity, kids will learn the importance of keeping their teeth clean.
Difficulty level: This math activity is designed for children to carry out autonomously and independently by following instructions.
Skills:
- Personal care (Oral hygiene)
- Following directions
- Identification of numbers
- Cognitive skills (concentration and matching)
WHICH MATERIALS DO WE NEED TO DEVELOP OUR MATH ACTIVITY?
- Card stock or construction paper
- Paint
- Black marker
- Color pencils
- Scissors
HOW WE CAN DEVELOP THE MATH ACTIVITY
Step 1:
On the card stock, draw the face of the smiling frog with its large teeth. We can use the paint or the green color to give it life. With the black marker, we can outline the eyes and teeth.
Step 2:
On separate card stock paper, draw the frog teeth again, but this time, make the cavities on each tooth, after that color them.
Step 3:
We list the cards at the back of the cavities, then draw numbers from 1-8 randomly. Remember, the two rows of teeth contain the quantity (use the same numbers from 1-8 at the bottom as on the top but in a different order), then cut the cards.
Step 4
Mix the cards and place them on top of the teeth so that the numbers look hidden. Choose two cards, turn them over, and see if they have the same number, the idea is to keep trying until they make pairs with the same number and then finish with all the cards (remove all cavities).
