Mathematics is abstract and helps to think with logic and deduction. Mathematics helps develop cognitive abilities; however, it is complicated or difficult for some people because, in their learning process, they did not have a methodology that would allow them to understand in an easy and didactic way.
Montessori teaches the importance of all the senses for children’s learning. She materialized the abstract in concrete, that is to say, that children begin an order. Through exploration, they discover quantities, then symbols. Finally, they associate quantities with symbols, making them feel part of the process.
Therefore, parents must participate in the learning process in children, contributing to developing abilities and skills in a didactic and fun way through manual activities, allowing experience, and exploring a world of learning with mathematics where logical thinking is achieved for everyday life.
In the first years of education in children, the objective is to achieve cognitive development. It is essential and complementary with which the family has taught and stimulated in them.
Children begin to assimilate their environment through interaction with nature that provides them with sounds, textures, colors, sizes. They begin to understand better the diversity of the outside world, with which they are perceiving and acquiring the skill in the use of objects, refining the spatial notion, strengthening, controlling movements through contact and experience with the natural environment. That prepares brain connections for more complex activities like writing and math.
By exploring the real and natural environment, they learn to select and organize through practical life to understand reality, obtain criteria to materialize the independent, becoming communicative and interactive with the learning environment.
