People are always faced with different situations in which decisions must be taken to lead to success or failure. Regardless of the decision, there is still learning for future cases. The best way to learn is through your own experience. That’s why María Montessori created a pedagogy in which children develop their skills through their own experiences.
Montessori designed materials and different situations to implement in the classroom, all of these based on reality; that is, the same conditions that children experience in their daily lives. With a difference, these activities are designed according to children’s abilities. Montessori identified that the only way children learn is when they do the tasks themselves through experiential learning.
Children cannot understand abstract concepts at an early age, so it is not a good alternative to try to develop children’s intelligence with a master class. The best way to do it is by involving the senses in their learning, transforming all perceived stimuli into knowledge concretely.
Learning depends on the child’s interest and motivation. If this interest does not exist, learning will most likely turn into a memorization process that is often quickly forgotten. One of the best ways to motivate children to discover new knowledge is to observe and understand each method through experiments. With hands-on experience and observation, children develop logical thinking, self-confidence, and social relationships. Thus, children will strengthen each of their abilities and achieve integral development.

HOW TO DEVELOP THIS PRESCHOOL SCIENCE ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD
This preschool science activity can be done with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level, children can use a larger spoon or place the jelly balls into the glass with their fingers. Children will develop their creativity and also strengthen their fine motor skills. In this way, a preschool activity appropriate to children’s development and capacities is carried out.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OVER 6 YEARS OLD
This preschool science activity can be done with older children. To increase the activity’s difficulty level, you shouldn’t change the materials; children can use different colored jelly balls to see if it has the same effect.
