When children are allowed to manipulate objects, they learn new concepts. They also develop valuable and necessary skills to adapt and interact within their environment to develop their fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional skills.
By manipulating objects and materials, children’s senses are enhanced and play a fundamental role.
Through them, information reaches the brain. María Montessori stated that the hand is the best tool for learning.
However, children learn from movement, colors, shapes, smells, and sounds, which means that their hands and senses are essential for developing children’s intelligence.
Without a doubt, children learn by doing and facing everyday situations, allowing them to develop as good citizens.
The motivation to learn will lead children to learn more easily and naturally; that’s why environments with sufficient stimuli that develop ingenuity, creativity and ensure meaningful learning for children should be favored.
There are different ways to teach children. However, it has been shown that active learning based on their own experience generates authentic knowledge in them.
Through daily living activities, we encourage children to learn mathematics, reading, and writing.
