Sensory play is an important activity for children’s development. Magic bag is a fun sensory for preschool activity that little ones will enjoy and is perfect for autumn.
The more exposed children are to the world around them, the greater their learning. Children’s sense of touch begins in the eighth month of gestation. By the time of birth, babies already have tactile sensitivity.
Through the sense of touch, children develop physical schemes; that means, they begin to know their bodies to define textures they like and create a concept of equality.
When a baby is not stimulated, they do not know their body; this means that you are not aware that that part of the body exists until you have a tactile sensation.
With the sense of touch, we can perceive heat, cold, pain, contact, and pressure. Each one of these sensations is perceived through specific body receptors. That is why we must allow children to be in contact with as many stimuli as possible.
Each part of the body is essential and must be stimulated. However, the fingertips have a more significant number of receptors; they perceive the greatest stimulus amount. That is why we will do the following activity focused on stimulating the sense of touch through textures.
THEME: SENSORY FOR PRESCHOOL AUTUMN ACTIVITY FOR KIDS
HOW DO WE DEVELOP THIS ACTIVITY?
Topic: Textures
Age: 2 to 4 years old
Activity goal: Kids will learn how to recognize some textures and will stimulate their sense of touch.
Difficulty level: Low. This sensory activity for preschoolers is designed to allow children to explore textures with adult guidance.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO CARRY OUT OUR SENSORY FOR PRESCHOOL ACTIVITY
- Paper bag
- Card stock or construction paper
- Rice
- Cotton
- Sandpaper
- Scissors
- Glue
DEVELOPMENT OF THE SENSORY FOR PRESCHOOL ACTIVITY
Step 1:
Draw 6 autumn leaves on the card stock or construction paper and then cut them out.
Step 2:
Take a couple of autumn leaves and glue cotton on them. Glue rice to the next two, and finally glue the sandpaper to the last two. There should be three pairs of autumn leaves with different textures.
Step 3:
Put the autumn leaves inside the paper bag. Children should put their hands into the bag without looking and make pairs of leaves, feeling the textures.

MODIFICATION TO THIS SENSORY FOR PRESCHOOL ACTIVITY
This sensory for preschool activity can also be done with younger children. As the objective is to stimulate the sense of touch, kids can touch each texture. If they still cannot group them, allow them to experience the material (under adult supervision).

During this sensory play for preschoolers, kids will have to make pairs of cardboard autumn leaves with different textures. These autumn leaves will be placed in a paper bag.
The objective is to stimulate children’s sense of touch by identifying each of the textures inside the bag and grouping them in pairs.
The materials needed for this activity are card stock or construction paper, glue, a paper bag, rice, cotton, and sandpaper.
