Children have difficulty understanding concepts such as space and time before six years of age—the development of mathematical, logical thinking in children linked to senses. Learning mathematics must be developed in children correctly. By receiving proper instruction, they acquire logical thinking that will allow the development of necessary skills for the rest of their lives.

Children develop their classification skills by creating shapes with objects. They group things according to a criterion; this ability has been called intuitive classification.

Finally, they manage to form groups and subgroups with items; this ability is called a logical sort. This learning occurs through experimentation using the senses, as proposed by the Montessori learning method, which seeks to develop their skills through their efforts, awakening curiosity and favoring children’s learning.

Stimulation with numbers at an early age is fundamental for children since it favors the easy and effortless development of logical-mathematical intelligence. Children get skills in their day-to-day life.

Mathematics is found in all daily activities and all human environments. With it, children can understand the reality that surrounds them, depending on their excellent logical-mathematical thinking.

Mathematical games have a high educational potential. Games allow to build, reaffirm, promote values, develop skills, knowledge, and effect positive attitudes.

In the following activity, the child will maintain a personal interest that guides and motivates him/her with respect for differences, encourages empathy, collaboration, pleasure, discovery, and activity. HOW TO DEVELOP THIS NUMBER ACTIVITY FOR PRESCHOOLERS WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD

This number activity for preschoolers can be developed with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level, you won’t need to change the materials to carry the activity. Children can carry out the kids activity in a good way; the eggs will not have the number or quantity. The children will only put together the puzzles by relating them by color. In this way, children will carry out a math activity appropriate to their development and abilities.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OVER 6 YEARS OLD

This number activity for preschoolers can be done with older children. To increase the difficulty level, you can make eggs of a single color so the children will have to develop their mathematical thinking and make a relationship between quantity and number, and not by colors to join the egg.
